Class MC licence vehicles in NSW include:

To apply for an MC licence, you must:

– Have held a Class HR or HC licence or equivalent for at least one year. Any time you’ve spent on a P2 HR licence counts, but you can’t practice to drive an MC vehicle, or upgrade to an MC licence until you hold a full class HR or HC licence. – Pass an MC knowledge test.
– Pass an eyesight test.
– Successfully complete HVCBA. If you hold an HR licence, you’ll need to pass an HC assessment before you can start MC training.
– Pass a medical examination.

MC licence or B-double licence is the highest licence you can obtain for use on the road. It is highly sought after in the transport industry and can often be one of the higher paid licence classes for driver’s working in the industry. We can provide training for a B-double licence and cater training to your needs and experience level.

Compulsory requirements for a MC licence NSW

There are some compulsory requirements that must be met before obtaining an MC licence. You must have held a heavy rigid (HR) or heavy combination (HC) licence for a period totalling at least one year. You also need to undertake a compulsory training and assessment course. The course must be approved by the RMS and conducted by a registered training organisation and a trainer/assessor accredited by the RMS.

Applying for an Multi-Combination Licence

To apply for an MC licence, go to an RMS motor registry and:

– Provide a current photo licence or other proof of identity that meets RMS requirements.
– Complete a licence application form.
– Provide a completed medical report.
– Show that you meet MC licence compulsory requirements.
– Pass an MC licence knowledge test questions.
– Pass an eyesight test.
– Obtain Class MC HVCBA guidebook and logbook
– Complete the MC driver training and assessment course (HVCBA), and obtain a certificate of competency.

Then you simply take your certificate to the RMS registry and they will issue you your Multi-Combination/B-double licence.

B-DOUBLE CLASS MC LICENCE COURSES

The course can be conducted in 1or 2 days consisting of criteria outlined in the HVCBA guide.

Courses can be booked at the student’s convenience.

Aim

Designed for drivers to develop skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain a Multi Combination Licence (B-DOUBLE Licence).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: All students must:-

– Have held a Class HR or HC licence (not including a learner’s licence) for a period totalling at least 1 year.
– Complete Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) knowledge test questions successfully.
– Obtain Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA) learner’s guidebook and logbook.
– Pass a medical examination.
– HVCBA guidebook must be read thoroughly before starting training.

MC COURSE CONTENT:

– Criteria 1 – Pre-operational Check
– Criteria 2 – Cabin Drills
– Criteria 3 – Start, move off, shut down and secure
– Criteria 4 – Manage Steering
– Criteria 5 – Manages Gears
– Criteria 6 – Manages Brakes
– Criteria 7 – Manages Accelerator
– Criteria 8 – Create & Maintain Crash Avoidance Space
– Criteria 9 – Protect Crash Avoidance Space
– Criteria 10 – Road Rules and Directions
– Criteria 11 – Reversing
– Criteria 12 – Hill Stop/Start
– Criteria 13 – Load Securing
– Criteria 14 – Bus Stop Procedure (If course is conducted in a bus only)

Final competency assessment (FCA):

First, the Training Course must be completed which consists of the criteria listed above. You will be trained and assessed on these criteria when you are up to standard you will be “signed off”. Once the Training course is completed you will be required to sit the Final Competency Assessment, which is a final drive that will be video recorded as an RMS requirement. After the FCA has been completed successfully and the required standard of competency has been achieved you will be issued with a certification which the RMS will then use to issue your MC licence.
